Gansey put The Pig into park before it had even come to a complete stop. Blue threw open the door and ran out into the rain, her heart pounding in her chest.
He had to be there. They'd searched everywhere else. They were out of leads and out of time.
Blue squeezed her eyes shut for a brief moment without slowing down, hoping they were right. Terrified of what would happen if they weren't.
She heard feet running behind her. By then Adam and Ronan had surely been able to climb out of the backseat. She didn't wait for them, though.
She jumped the small chicken wire fence that was already leaning at a dangerously low angle. The rain seemed to pick up, the drops pelting her face and making her cheeks sting.
Then she pulled open the old side door of the dilapidated farmhouse and stepped inside, chest heaving from exertion.
It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the dim, cavernous space.
"He's here." It was Noah, somewhere inside the barn. He sounded relieved. So Blue was relieved, too.
She could make out a shape in front of her, a person kneeling on the ground, so she started walking.
Then, finally, she could see him.
It was Henry, with his arms tied behind his back and blood on his lip.
"Oh," she breathed. Then she fell to her knees in front of him, her hands cupping his cheek.
He blinked up at her.
"Are you real?" He asked.
"Yes," She answered. "Are you hurt?"
Henry squinted at her, considering his answer.
"Not in any permanent way," he said softly.
It broke Blue's heart a little.
She threw her arms around him as she heard a commotion coming through the doorway. She didn't turn to look.
Soon she was enveloped in someone else's arms. Adam's, she could tell by the smell of motor oil. Then Ronan, his stubble rough against her cheek. Noah's hand was cold against her arm. Finally Gansey put his arms around as much of her and Henry as he could. She smelled the minty-ness of his aftershave.
"Ow," Henry wheezed.
Blue didn't want to let him go, but she had to do.
As the group reluctantly untangled, Gansey murmured, "It's okay, we've got you now."

OH MY GOD
they looked for him! and they found him! and when Henry asked if Blue was real my heart broke. I may have cried a little because of course Henry would say "not in any permanent way" THAT'S MY BOY WHO HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED MULTIPLE TIMES!!!
god I need to lie down for 2-3 business days to process this.
Beautiful, amazing, showstopping, absolutely enchanting. I can see the scene so clearly in my mind i'm just !!!!
