Pumpkin Patch; Sam/Bucky

When Bucky told Sam that he'd never been to a pumpkin patch before, Bucky had to watch as several emotions exploded across Sam's face all at once. He recognized surprise, and a bit of shock, but Sam's face ultimately looked pitying.
Bucky rolled his eyes. "They can't be that cool."
Sam grinned. "It's the whole experience, man. It's not just about pumpkins, although those are neat, too. Come out with us. I'm taking Cass and AJ."
That is how Bucky finds himself sitting on top of a hay bail, in a trailer, getting pulled by a tractor. It seems so silly, but also so American, that Bucky can't help but grin. He looks out at a vast field of dirt with rows and rows of bright orange pumpkins. He's not sure why the tractor ride is a thing, considering it's just showing them more pumpkins, but he's determined to enjoy himself.
Eventually the tractor stops, and Cass and AJ scramble out.
"C'mon Bucky, this is where the rides are!" AJ shouts.
There is, in fact, a small carnival set up with a ferris wheel decorated with pumpkins, a tilt-a-whirl with bat wings on the clamshells, and bumper cars painted orange and black.
"What are we doing first?" Sam asks as he looks between his nephews.
"Bumper cars!" They shout enthusiastically.
"Hell yeah," Bucky says, excited. He can definitely get on board with that, so long as Sam is playing too.
Sam wiggles his eyebrows. "Oh, it's on."
Bucky has to squish down and pull up his knees to fit into one of the cars, but he still ends up having a blast ramming into Sam repeatedly. Then he lets Cass and AJ team up against him, and laughs maniacally as he drives away as fast as his little car can go.
Afterwards, Cass and AJ get on the ferris wheel while Sam and Bucky wait on the ground. The cool autumn wind wafts the earthy scent of pumpkin over them. Bucky is really starting to understand the appeal of a place like this.
Sam bumps Bucky in the shoulder. "Thanks for coming, man. You want an apple cider?"
"Sure." Bucky bumps him back. "Does this count as a date?"
Sam's grin is blinding at that point. It could probably outshine the sun. Bucky almost doesn't hear him answer, he's so distracted. He wants to make him smile like that forever.
"Nah. A real date requires food."
Bucky raises an eyebrow as he glances over at the food booth near them, advertising pumpkin pie, apple cider donuts, and pumpkin cookies.
"Wait here," Bucky says before he dashes off to get in line, leaving Sam laughing in his wake.
